Soma side effects

Soma is a medication that is widely prescribed as a muscle relaxant. When using the drug soma for pain it is advisable to be aware of the many possible side effects of the drug. Some of the more severe side effects are but not limited to facial swelling, hives, swelling of the tongue, lips or throat, breathing problems, all caused by an allergic reaction to the medication. Paralysis, fainting and or light headedness, seizures and possibly extreme weakness have also been assoicated with the use of soma. Additionally, other side effects may be loss of vision, decreased or complete loss of coordination, confusion or extreme aggitation. There have been reported cases of irratic, irregular or fast heartbeats with the use of soma. Should you experience any of these side effects it is advisable to notify your doctor and seek medical attention immediately. The operation of heavy machinery or driving while taking soma is not recommended until you know how the medication will effect you. Less severe soma side effects are drowiness, dizziness, decrease in appetite and tremors. Some people have been known to have an onset of depression and insomnia(or sleep problems) while taking soma. As with many pain medication upset stomach, stomach or digestion problems can be come an issue. The least worriesome side effects are hiccups, nausea and mild headaches. It is important to avoid drinking alcohol when taking soma as it may increase the chances that you will experience some of the more severe side effects. Another one of the soma side effects that is reported with long term use is the addiction to the medication and consequently the withdrawal symptoms experienced with the withdrawals. These symptoms include night sweats, hallicunations, nightmares and sleep problems. These side effects can be made less severe by slowly decreasing the medication over time. Do not abruptly stop taking soma without first consulting your physician. When taking any medication it is always good to know what the possible side effects can be so that you, together with your doctor can make a good, informed decision with regards to your pain management.
